A Year in Review

Now most of my other blogging friends have already completely their Year in Review post, but naturally I’m late to the game. Although I say this every year with regards to blogging I really do feel like I will continuously post weekly this year, and really make something out of my little site.

2016 was one of the biggest years for me; emotionally, physically, romantically. I lost am amazing role model  in the form of my Uncle, and it really brought into perspective what I wanted to accomplish in life, and that I needed to be happy in everything I did because you never know what’s going to happen tomorrow.

I also gained so much last year as well, I met the most amazing man ever. Who literally gives me butterflies each and every day. I got to work with the pageant coach of my dreams in preparation for Miss NJ USA, and form an amazing bond with her. I placed in the Top 5 at a national pageant representing my gorgeous state of New Jersey, and so much more.

Here were my list of goals for 2016 and I’m actually pretty happy with all that I’ve accomplished and all that I plan to accomplish. I BOLDED everything I accomplished.

So here are my 100 Goals for 2016 (I’ll add more as I think of them!)

  1. Visit another country (even if said country is Canada)
  2. Get a new passport in order to leave country
  3. Finish writing one of the books Ive started
  4. Publish the book
  5. Write at least 50% of another book
  6. Visit Savannah, GA
  7. Visit Arizona
  8. Visit Las Vegas
  9. Stop biting my nails (terrible habit)
  10. Update my blog at least 3 times a week
  11. Work with the amazing photographer, Fadil Berisha
  12. Compete in Miss New Jersey USA (3rd time)
  13. Compete/win one pageant this year
  14. Get my bartending license
  15. Be on a TV show (I was featured on Entertainment Tonight)
  16. Be in a movie (I was in The Amazing SpiderMan 2)
  17. Get a talent Agent
  18. Aquire my SAG Card
  19. Buy/build something from IKEA
  20. Go to OneOak NYC
  21. Stay out all night in NYC
  22. See Sam Hunt in concert
  23. Have an actual savings account
  24. Learn how to knit
  25. Attend the MISS USA Pageant
  26. Attend a music festival in NYC

Okay, so 9/26 is roughly 1/3 which isn’t terrible. I’m always optimistic and most of these goals steamed of completing an initial goal which I didn’t so there’s always that.

I am so proud of everything I’ve accomplished both on this list and especially off of this list. I made memories that will last me forever in 2016, and as crummy as the year was I wouldn’t want to change it.

I’m excited for what 2017 has in store for me! I have some ideas about where this blog will be headed and how I want to do things both with the fashion aspect and the reading/writing side to it as well.

Stay tuned!

My New Obsessions

Last week I ventured into the one store I know I will end up leaving with something, Lush Cosmetics. It happens to me almost every time I go in.

I love trying new products, so while I was browsing body scrubs I was immediately drawn to “Buffy” their exfoliating body scrub. Truthfully, I loved the name, I was a huge ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ fan growing up. So when the super sweet sales girl came over and told me that the body scrub was dubbed “Buffy the Dead Skin Slayer” I was sold! I didn’t even try it out in the store I just bought it and brought it home.

00265.jpg

Needless to say, it’s one of my all time favorite body scrubs I’ve ever tried from Lush. The rice, almonds, and beans they use in this scrub create an amazing exfoliant. I can literally feel the dead skin being washed off my skin. Which would normally make me nervous because I have psoriasis so anything to rough and grainy can dry my skin out and make my skin worse. However, Buffy is also infused with cocoa and shea butters instantly moisturize my skin. I really don’t even need to put lotion on after my shower if I didn’t want to.

I highly recommend  this product to anyone who is looking for a really great exfoliant. Especially if you have very dry skin and want a product thats going to help remove dead skin and moisturize the new skin at the same time.

Of course I couldn’t only leave with one new product, my intentions walking into Lush were to buy a new face cleanser. (I still use their Dark Angels on my face but only once a week) Something I could use everyday that would control and breakouts that could occur while thoroughly cleansing my face from everyday dirt and oils.

Once again the sales associate directed me to a face cleanser called “Let the Good Times Roll” It’s comprised of Maize flour, Polenta, and Popcorn Topping! (It smells delicious)

This cleanser is super soft and gentle on the skin. It left my face feeling fresh and smooth. I have started using it everyday and can already tell a huge difference in my skin. It feels lighter, less clogged, and my complexion has overall brightened tremendously.

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a gentle everyday cleanser. This isn’t a harsh exfoliant so you can certainly use it everyday and do what I do and use and exfoliant one to two times a week.

Look for Less!

It is no surprise that Lace-up flats are in right now. They are adorable and offer the perfect amount femininity and edginess to cater to pretty much everyone. It’s also no surprise that almost every designer has manufactured these shoes as well. And while I’d love to rock a pair from Christian Louboutin or Aquazzura, they don’t exactly fit into my budget.

But I have been scouring the internet to find some great pairs for under $100 to fit into everyone’s budget!

Lace Do This Pointy D’Orsay Flats by GoJane.com ($23.30)

114771-e-white-0.jpg

These are one of the cheaper pairs I found, but they definitely don’t look it! The great thing about theses is not only the price, but that they come in a variety of colors and styles, which means you can totally afford more than one pair depending on your budget!

Siri Lace Up Flats by PublicDesire.com ($28.94)

fl2_black_pu2.jpg

PublicDesire.com is by far one of my favorite places to buy shoes. I seriously love all they have to offer, having bought quite a few pairs from here before, I can guarantee some great quality shoes for an amazing price! This is a UK based store, so prices may seem a little wonky, but I highly recommend checking them out. These Lace Up Flats are on the more simplistic side, but that certainly shouldn’t deter you from rocking them this summer with denim shorts and a T-shirt!.

*My one point of advice – They don’t have half sizes (I’m a 6 1/2) and ordered a size up and they were a bit big. So I’d say go down a size unless you’re on the cusp of the half size and the next size.*

Sunshine by SteveMadden.com ($69.95)

STEVEMADDEN-FLATS_SUNSHINE_BLACK-WHITE-SNAKE.jpeg

I’ve definitely stated this a million times, but I love Steve Madden shoes. They have that designer look and feel at a fraction of high-end designer prices. These are a bit more than my previous two, but they are certainly worth the money! These are super comfortable and come in some great prints and neutrals to match anyones style!

*As of 3/21 Steve Madden is having a sale: Buy 1 get 20% off, buy 2 get 30% off. Plus Free Shipping!*

Faux Suede Lace Up Flats by Forever21.com ($24.90)

00169976-04.jpg

If you don’t feel comfortable about ordering from some of the other places, you can’t go wrong with Forever 21. It has become a staple to most of us whether you buy their $1.90 camis (like I do) or shop there for the all the latest trends at bargain prices. You can usually leave there finding at least one thing you don’t necessity need, but want. So next time you’re there check out their super cute lace up flats! Once again they feature Forever21’s insanely low price! They come in a variety of colors, but these adorable pastels are by far my favorite.

Hope you all are having an amazing week so far! I’ve been super busy lately and haven’t been able to post, but I’m compiling a list of content I’d like to feature over the next few weeks, so definitely keep a look out! As my 24th birthday is approaching, I’m starting to really crack down on my book writing, and I’m so excited to share snit-bits with you all!

Friday Finds!

So I was online shopping (as usual) and I started to find some really cute pieces at some pretty reasonable prices on some of my favorite sites to shop! Everything is under $50; except for 2 items I love and just had to put!

Here are my Friday Finds!

37260288_012_b.jpeg35646868_011_d.jpeg
(Urban Outfitters $39.00 – Urban Outfitters $59.00)

I absolutely love flowy sleeves on blouses, I think they really add a cute girly feel to any outfit and also a bit of boho chic which I love! This shirt is also such a steal at only $39! It also comes in three other colots including one patterned option. I would type this with a cute pair of jeans and some chunky wedges. For a summer look I’d witch out the jeans for a pair of shots and a floppy hat!
This sweater *sigh* I love it. The elbow patches are adorable, and the length is perfect to pair with leggings in the spring! It comes in five colors so I will definitely work with anyones color preference and match a variety of outfit options!

(Revolve Clothing $33.00 – Nordstrom $9.90)

There are a few things about these shorts that I love, they’re high waisted which is a huge plus because lets face it, this isn’t the early 00’s where whale tails were in and it was cool to show everyone your underwear. Plus if you have a longer torso (like myself) high waisted articles make your legs look longer. Secondly the bottom half of these shorts will make sure that your bottom cheeks stay hidden to the rest of the world. Thirdly they’re distressed and I love a good distressed denim. Side note if you don’t particularly like the color or design check out the “You might also like” for these shorts. They give you a great variety of options that are pretty much all under $50.00!
I think the cotton scoop neck speaks for itself. In my mind you can never have enough of the basics! Especially when they’re only $9.90! Same with shorts, check out the “People also bought/viewed” sections. Most of their basics are on sale and all offer a variety of color options.

Screen Shot 2016-02-19 at 9.35.59 AM.pngScreen Shot 2016-02-19 at 9.39.34 AM.png
(Free People $49.95 – Nordstrom $54.00)

I have been obsessed with this dress for the better part of the winter, and when I was clicking around and noticed it was on sale I nearly fainted. I love Free People, I’m not always a fan of their prices, because let’s face it who can afford an $80 tank top. However, when they have sales, they have sales! Don’t get me wrong they’re still expensive but it makes it 10x easier to click “add to cart” when the item is 30% off. I’d definitely pair this with a pair of cute boots or some chunky heels.
This off the shoulder shirt, I just had to include with my Friday Finds, it’s adorable. I love the dusty rose color, perfect for spring/summer/fall months. I would style this with a pair of white shorts and some espadrille sandals.

3462-DEFAULT-l.jpgScreen Shot 2016-02-19 at 10.13.26 AM.png
(Chinese Laundry $49.99 – Chuck Taylors $49.95)

Chinese Laundry is probably one of my favorite places to buy shoes, they’re super affordable and recently just opened a Factory Outlet on their site where nothing is over $90! These wedges are gorgeous and perfect for warm weather, plus you could definitely pair these with many of the clothing options I’ve given above!
Everyone needs a good pair of Chuck Taylor sneakers in their wardrobe. Whether it for running errands or finishing off your street style outfit, these are a definite must have!

Well there you have it! My Friday Finds, I hope to do this every Friday and share with you a few things I find over the course of the week!

Capes Galore

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the cape trend that’s been blowing up recently. There is something about this trend that I can’t stop obsessing about. I’ve gathered a few of my favorite pieces. Here they are!

40593.0.zoom.jpg58386.0.zoom.jpg
(Nasty Gal; Cape Blazer $68.00, Cape Jacket $98.00)

59643.0.zoom.jpg63592.0.zoom.jpg
(Nasty Gal; Sequin Cape $98.00, Tassel Cape $98.00)

58931.0.zoom.jpg64374.0.zoom.jpg
(Nasty Gal; Off The Shoulder $58.00, Brushing Shoulders $68.00)

I realize that all of these looks are from the same store, but they honestly had one of the best selections of “Cape Wear” that I came across that I actually liked. Plus, Nasty Gal has very good quality clothing at a super affordable rate. I really like to find things that are in, but also fit within budget. Just like most others, I can’t afford to buy everything designer or higher end, so I try to find the closest thing to it at much more affordable rate.

It’s hard being a 23 year old in the real world as it is, my budget definitely can’t handle my expensive taste all the time. Of course there are some things a girl simply can’t say no to; like buying my very first pair of Louboutins (which will be happening this year). So I have to try and keep money in my savings a few other ways!

Snow Day Essentials

If you live in the NYC/NJ you know how crazy our weather has been. Monday, I was walking around in just a long sleeve shirt and it was 63 degrees. Today I woke up to my car covered in snow, and slipped all over the roads.

So I’ve posted a few of my favorite things to help combat Snow Days!

Untitled.png

A. Nowhere but Here by Renee Carlino – $3.99 eBook
B. TopShop Sweater – $55.00
c. Pride and Prejudice Mug; Etsy – $12.99
D. Forever 21 Over the Knee Socks – $7.90
E. Revolve Clothing Pom Pom Hat –  $41.00

There’s nothing like some hot chocolate, fuzzy socks, a comfy sweater, and a good book to get the day started!

Tonight is also one of my close friends birthdays’ so hopefully I can remember to snap a few pictures of my outfit and make up to post on the blog!

TBR Shelf

While some people are addicted to chocolate, video games, and shopping (I’m guilty for this as well) I am addicted to reading. It’s a sick obsession. I LOVE reading. Not just anything though, I am a huge fan of the New Adult genre — focus’ on characters between the ages of 17 – 27. This genre boomed a few years back and authors have certainly capitalized on this market. Though, most plot lines have been exhausted, I whole handedly love this genre.

So while at my local Barnes and Nobel the other day I picked up a few new books to add to my ridiculous library. As of now I have book thrown literally in every cubby imaginable. I cannot wait for the day when I can have a library of my dreams in my home office. (I’ve even created a pointers board of ideas) Anywho I bought all of these books for a whopping $21.00! Such a steal because my B&N offers a sales sections that I frequent way to often.

There’s nothing like books on sale to put a smile on my face.

FullSizeRender.jpg

I have been waiting to read “Nowhere but here” and “Hero” for as long as I can remember, but never bit the bullet to buying the eBooks, so when I saw them in paperback I just had to scoop them up! I own hundreds of eBooks, but there’s nothing like the smell of a paperback book to calm me.

I can’t wait to dive into these books, especially since the main character of “The Marriage Mistake” is names Carina (I spell my name with a K, but still my name!)

What’s on your TBR list/ what’re you currently reading? Also if you ever need a book recommendation, I’m definitely your girl!

Going Out Makeup

This past weekend I went out for one of my close friends 23rd birthday, and I decided to share with everyone what makeup I use! Naturally, I’m terrible at taking pictures once I’m out, or I could show you what I actually looked like.

I love all of these products, and pretty much swear by them. Especially my moisturizer (not pictured but it’s Neutrogena $10.99) and BB Cream. I have super (like Sahara Desert) dry skin and they both work wonders to keep my skin nice!

IMG_1570.JPG

A. Sephora Collection – Classic Multitasker Blush Brush #54 – $28.00
B. Urban Decay – Naked 2 – $54.00
C. Mac – LipGlass ‘Angel’ – $15.00
D. Mac – Lipstick ‘Angel‘ – $17.00
E. Avon – Luxury Eye Liner Black – $5.00
F. Sephora Collection – MicroSmooth Baked Bronzer Duo 01 – $19.00
G. Mac – Blush ‘Life’s A Picnic’ – $22.00
H. Benefit – Watt’s Up Highlighter – $30.00
I. Sephora Collection – Full Action Extreme Effect Mascara 01 – $12.00
J. Sephora Collection – Bright Future Concealer 06 – $14.oo
K. Sephora Collection – Bright Future Color Corrector 04 – $14.00
L. Aveeno – Clear Complexion BB Cream – $14.99
M. Urban Decay – All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray – $30.00

Adding all of these up, almost make want to cry, especially since this is probably not even 1/3 of the makeup I own. Also I have a thing for Sephora Collections’, I’m all about affordability and really try to buy the best product for the cheapest cost, and I’ve found that Sephora makes really great products for half the cost of some name brands.

Full Disclosure: My favorite product on this list is my eyeliner, not because it’s the cheapest either, I seriously LOVE Avon’s pencil eyeliner. I use it for both top and bottom lines! My mom used to see Avon when I was growing up (who’s mother didn’t …) so she would get me their eyeliner and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’m pretty sure I started to cry when she stopped selling Avon, but it’s okay because we know someone who does and we literally by in bulk!

I promise to start taking better quality photos, I know they make all the difference! I just have really bad light in my room come nighttime (sorry)!
